Bonjour Everyone!

Happy Outdoor Wednesday!

It is great to be home! I think???? ;) Jet lag coming back home was worse than travelling over to France and Italy.

Well, I could not let Outdoor Wednesday pass by, without at least a quick post. So I pondered what to share and decided on The estate of Versailles. The palace and the gardens of Versailles are counted among the most prestigious of the world's heritage sites and is located approx. 45 mins outside of Paris by train. King Louis XIII's former hunting lodge was transformed and enlarged by his Son Louis XIV, who installed his court and government there.

This was the line we were in to get into Versailles, after we already stood in line to get tickets. You can preregister, but we were not sure when we would be able to go. My recommendation would be to go in June or September. This was way to busy to really get to enjoy this magnificent place.

This was looking out one of the windows of the palace onto the gardens. We must have been the busy que inside, outside does not look crowded at all.
This was taken once we got through to the gardens.

I tried to get some close up pictures of the actually flowers.

All the flowers look pretty familiar to me? How about you? It just goes to show you that everything is in the presentation of things!!

I could not pass up this close up of the bee :)

Oh these gardens are just spectacular!!! I hope you enjoyed a "little" tour of the gardens at Versailles. I still have more photos to share later of the fountains, topiaries, statues etc......

Happy Outdoor Wednesday!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the views from my front porch. These are some of the things that my husband I enjoy most about living in the mountains of Pennsylvania.

We have about 13 or so deer come into the lower field every night. Sometimes early in the morning, they have been right outside the door.
This next little feathered friend, just showed up the other day. What a pleasant surprise :)
Can anyone identify what kind of bird this is?

I do believe it is trying to hide from my camera?

This picture is what our northern magnolia tree looks like. pretty puny flowers compared to those gorgeous southern magnolias.

Bees visiting my rhodie.

Last, but not least our beautiful sunrises.

I just love to capture the fog in early morning with the sunrise.

Well, I hope you enjoyed sitting a spell on my front porch. Next time I will try and have some tea and scones ready :)
Now go over and visit our sweet hostess Susan @asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com. I just know that there are plenty more gorgeous places to visit. Click ODW sidebar picture.

Happy Outdoor Wednesday!

This is an example of a Geocache:
Have you ever heard of GEOCACHING? I never did until this weekend, while camping. My brother and his family came in and we all went camping at Cowans Gap State Park, in Pennsylvania.

We set up the tent and the pop-up camper.

The pop up is for the adults, of course.

One morning they all said "Let's go geocaching". My family said "What is that?" My brother already had some coordinates to put in his GPS. So off we went to the top of the mountain, to Tower Rd., as we were walking we came to the overlook, in the (2) photos below.

The "geocaching" crew, my husband taking photo.

THE GORGEOUS OVERLOOK!

Well, let's get on with our "geocaching" hike, I will show more overlook photos later. We walked around, watched the GPS and looked around for "something"???

Well, low and behold we found something under some pieces of log. It is supposed to be like a scavenger hunt. They let my daughter pull it out, since this was her first geocaching.

She is not so sure what is in this thing??? She had a great time with her cousins!

This was a geocache set up by the DCNR, they can also be set out by individuals.

This geocache actually explained what is was.

Click on above photo to read instructions.

There is usually a log book, that you sign and return to the box.
You can also leave a trinket in the box to say you were there. Like the first photo in this post. That photo just would not cooperate with going here.

Then you put the box back in same spot, hidden out of plain sight. My niece returned the geocache to the right spot and disguised it well.

So the next geocaching people can find it!

On to the next geocaching, we will go!??
What a great time we had! I think we may have found a new family hobby!?!
This is a great idea to get your family out and exploring new places. Just get on the web and look up geocaching.
Thanks to my brother and his family for a great experience!!

Now, why don't you head on over to visit our wonderful hostess Susan @ asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com and visit the rest of our wonderful Outdoor Wednesday

Roadtrip to Downtown Bordeaux, France

Beginning our Adventures to France!

We flew into Bordeaux, France as our starting point for the trip. There were no problems with the flight, found our luggage, rental car and GPS system. We started off and found our hotel the Mercure, unloaded our belongings and then headed off to find the Train Station.

Well, as soon as we were on the highway, the Mr. GPS was not helping. It did not know there was construction, there was no exit where it was saying, so round and round we went!!!! We got off a few wrong exits thanks to Mr. GPS, which are some of the photos.

Of course, being the woman that I am, I had gone to AAA before I left and ask for maps and guide books. Which of course, my husband, being that man said I did not need.

Thank goodness for a good old fashioned map :) Now my husband calls me "His Never Lost"

The following video, is a little tour of our JOURNEY to downtown Bordeaux and yes we finally did find the Train Station and the rental car. I have no pictures though, because there was no place to park, so we pulled up and went in to the rental car to get a new GPS. Well, they did not have them. We would have to go back to the airport and return for a new one. In the meanwhile, the lady says,"Is that your rental, a policeman is at it." Of course, he speaks NO ENGLISH. Thank goodness the lady did and she explained things to him, but he was still not very pleasant. He would give up 10 mins and then a ticket, if not out! So these photos are all taken from inside the car.

ENJOY!!!
